I have been eagerly waiting for the drama series since I am a fan of Lee Min Hoo and particularly a romance rooter.
That being said, one other thing I would like to clear up is: this is not a scene by scene description of the episodes by a glimpse into each episode as to what awaits you further.
The 1st episode opens in 1586 on a cloudy and stormy night in Hyeupgok-hun, Gangwan-do and we witness the horrors of an angry sea and the good that comes with it.
The fishermen find and capture a mermaid and it is eventually presented to the new town head who rescues the mermaid. It is commendable acting on all parts and the expressions by Jun Ji Hyun are above all.
Her versatile acting from Man from the Stars to Legends of the Blue Sea has left me in awe. She is my new favourite.
After an almost detailed fate from 1586 we come to present day to find out the town head is today a very sneeky man, a con-artist to be exact. He has a lot of tricks under his belt, one of them being hypnosis. (Sneek peek: another quality equivalent to Sherlock Homes). Curious? You should be 😉
For the first episode, apart from all thr other exviting and amusing elements in the story, it is evident that the fates are trying to bring the two lost souls back together.
It is interesting to watch small cues and incidences like the bracelet, the ocean, the sea storm and the same mermaid caught in it with the same situation happening to her again.
Only this time. It is different. She gets legs which change into a fin when she jumps in the water. Anyone reminded of Arial?
The situations that ensue afterwards are hilarious as the Korean Arial (Let us call her that since we haven’t found her name yet) is unaware of the human ways and the use of her new legs.
By the way, those legs are strong enough to send a man flying feets away, the new Lee Min Hoon experienced it first hand.
Not to reveal other hilarious events, go watch your 1st episode now if you haven’t yet.
Before you go fo it, here is a list of few things that the Korean Arial is unfamiliar with (the things that are going to cause us to laugh).
Legs, for sure.
The concept of transparent glass.
Automatic sliding glass
Her own strength.
Concept of Policemen
The list goes on and on. And I am not going to stop laughing.
