As the pattern in previous four seasons continue, there are going to be new character introductions and amny of our old guest appearances move in and out. There are also dragons and their elaborated stories, as always. Finally, our final 5 cast (twins are 1 unit) get the excitement, adventure, thrill, action and responsibility of their life.
Spoiler Alert ( If you haven’t watched it yet, this is Major for you)
Also, did I mention that I am in love with Hiccup’s hairstyle? I am! The last we saw, Mala was on her island, the volcano had erupted, the Vigo-Ricker problem was over (hope so!), there was a new villan character (bounty hunter), the bro-sis duo was looking for their father, gold was back, the eye was destroyed (i guess) and there were super-cool new invenstions to geek out about. Let find out what happens in the last two seasons and if there will be others
E1: The unnamed new villan is leading the hunters (ruthlessly and bravely) while the riders solve the volcano problem.
E2: The story revolves around a Sandbuster dragon! Side Dish: Relationship angle Watch for romance update
E3: The madness continues, only this time on Breserker island.
E4: The island of fairmaidens and mother-baby RazorWhips.
E5: Valahym, a final resting place for dragons is discovered unintentionally (Twin stupidity) and so are Sentinal dragons.
E6: Vigo is alive and working with the new villan, Kruger. But this is the episode for Fishlegs (Thor Bonecrusher)
E7: The seperated gang gets attacked by the combined enemy and we find out it was all about Dragon’s Eye!
E8: As the villans search for Dragon’s eye, Berk prepares for war and Hiccup tries to find his own way.
E9: Hiccup finds Sinjtail answers and deafets the enemy. I want you to watch this, just for the end scene and the twin scenes
E10: The relocation of Garff and Slitherwing escape
E11: Finally, an episode dedicated to Ruffnut and you see a little pattern to their madness.
E12: This is a two part episode: finding the chicken and finding Oswal, the Breserker’s Dad. And the mystery continues. If you like the Dagger’s character development, this would be the one to watch.
E13: The last episode of the series reveals a friend as traitor (you can’t guess) DO, do, do, do, do, do watch! Especially the last scene. Oh My God! OMG. Nooooooo
By far, every season of Dragon: Race to the Edge had variety of episodes and new dragons to watch out for with small ements to a big piture. In the end, every thing falls in place, leading to a final battle. In this series, each character has their own part to play and the leading-to-climax part is thrown in the middle of the series, while connecting to the end. Everything is more exciting and heart stopping. It also comes to be, that I end up liking Vigo over Kruger, for his humanity. There also exists a small glimpse of Stoick’s past that connects to ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ (second movie) and a dangerous foe which indicates finding the alpha. I am confused about one thing though, the episode of Fairmaidens: what use did they serve in the series? None so far, maybe in the next season.
In this season, all the characters have come a long way to be adventerous riders geling together like a puzzle with each piece having it’s own use and advantage. In the end, Oswal’s role to the Dragon Eye Glass comes into play and the last scene reveals a much clever foe, a snake in the pit. Oh! They also discover popcorn 😉
My favourite thing in this season and the previous season is the dragons and their individial personalities and expression + the chicken of course! Somethings can only be seen. And the finale scene. The six season is going to be epic, ofcourse!
++ I wished Oswal was still alive and kicking but then
Major Spoilers (Beware)
E1: This episode is all about Hiccup discovering about Yohan being a spy.
E2: Stoick’s anger on discovering Yohan leads him away from Berk, leaving it explosed. That’s all I can say for this one!
E3: Windmaidens are attacked and all three tribes with the riders come together to the aid.
E4: Fishlegs tries to clear his conscience and his legacy by ensuring a dangerous dragon species isn’t extinct. Astrid helps! Watch this episode, just for the side story
E5: This is Gruffnut episode. He wins too, without knowing that he did. Get’s the last Dragon Eye glass!
E6: Relationship episode with a Dragon Eye Glass angle. Or is it the other way around?
E7: A baby Razorwhip chooses Ruffnut as her Wingmaiden. I highly recommend to watch this episode just for fun. Just for the Laughs
E8: Vigo being betrayed, gets help from Hiccup to extract revenge and ends up dying (maybe)
E9: The riders stumble upon hunters breading Stingers and free them ingeniously.
E10: The ambush on Stoick leads to a lot of back flashes and alternate reality. Eventually Hiccup decides to take charge.
E11: The hunters find out about Vanihym and the riders protect the sacred place. Good-Bad ending
E12: Climax Part 1: The final piece of the puzzle is found with a queen dragon but bad news. She get’s heavily injured.
E13: The king is under the Breserker Island, comes too close to Hiccup and saves him without being seen.
Let me just start with:
The reval at the S5E13 changes everything. Knowing what you know now and watching the whole thing again with a diferent perspective, we will see things differently! I hope I make sense. It’s like Snape in Harry Potter, only the other way around (villan side).
With all that out of the way, this season starts off with some good old dragon action we missed in the last one. The episodes are a mix of stand alones which lead to the final conclusion: who gets the dragon eye’s glass to find the male dragon? Both teams are fighting equally hard for the final prize. There is a rare Ruffnut dedicated episode as well and she isn’t just a side story. There epic moments of hilarity when the charcters are just being themselves. And even though the story is pretty intact and well played out, it is the rider’s independent parts as themselves and their interactions with new dragons that makes this season and the complete series worth watching.
Some of my favourite parts are Mala-Dagur romance, Ruffnut story (as I have mentioned it multiple times), how the disoriented dragons fall in place like a piece of puzzle after we find out the final truth, The Dragon King ofcourse and everything he does, the last few scenes connecting the series to movie 2: How to Train your Dragon 2.
There will be a review about that but untill then, lets hope we get a short movie about Hiccup being Chief or so!
Can you believe that I binge watched all the seasons? Every second was worth it too! Let me know your favourite scenes or character meanwhile, below! Get watching now, it is only a netflix way.
